Section 144 CrPC is imposed in Imphal, Manipur
Shamin Shah, the Additional District Magistrate for the Imphal East district, issued the order announcing the implementation of section 144. He stated that the lives and property of the locals are at threat as a result of these events.

On December 9, Friday, under the threat of violence, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code was implemented in two districts in the northeastern state of Manipur. It prohibits crowding at any location within the area where this clause is enforced. Following a demonstration on Thursday night, prohibitory orders have been issued in the Manipur state's Imphal East and Imphal West districts. To oppose the state government's decision to legalize the sale of alcohol in the state, women from the area had organized a sizable rally with torches. The district administration has taken this action out of concern for potential harm to people and property during a protest of this nature.
Shamin Shah, the Additional District Magistrate for the Imphal East district, issued the order announcing the implementation of section 144. He stated that the lives and property of the locals are at threat as a result of these events.
The same directive was given by his Imphal West equivalent. There have been complaints of non-natives entering Manipur illegally and moving freely throughout the district, according to T. Kirankumar, Additional District Magistrate of Imphal West. In addition, insurgency threats against the district's business community include extortion. The prohibitory order was put in place as a response to these problems and to guarantee that visitors enter Manipur in accordance with the rules of the Inner Line Permit system.
An altercation between members of two communities over the construction of a place of worship led to a conflict at the start of this week. In the Tellipati area of the capital city, a number of vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers, were destroyed as a result of the incident. Following the implementation of Section 144 in the area, the chief minister also paid a visit to the area.
