Sharp weapon attack and cigarette burns on the privates on a woman

A Mumbai police officer claimed on Sunday that a 42-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three people who broke into her home, stabbed her with a sharp object, and burned her private areas with cigarettes. The official stated that the event occurred in Kurla in the early hours of Wednesday and that both the accused and victim reside in the same area. "One by one, the accused sexually assaulted her and also engaged in unnatural sex. They used cigarettes to burn her privates and a sharp object to stab her in the chest and both arms. The woman told her neighbours about her incident, and after they contacted an NGO, a FIR was filed, according to a Kurla police station official. The trio has been charged with offences under sections of the Indian Penal Code 376 (rape), 376D (gang rape), 377 (unnatural sex), 324 (voluntarily inflicting harm with a dangerous weapon), and other laws, he said. He added that efforts were being made to apprehend the trio. According to guidelines set forth by the Supreme Court in cases involving sexual assault, the victim's identity has been withheld to protect her privacy.
