The Bollywood film ‘The Kashmir Files’ has been banned in Singapore because it is “outside” the city-cinema state’s classification criteria. According to sources, Singaporean authorities denied the Hindi-language film classification due to “its aggressive and one-sided portrayal of Muslims and images of Hindus being persecuted in the on-going strife in Kashmir.”
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY), and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) all issued a joint statement in Singapore (MHA).
They claimed that the film’s depictions “have the potential to cause enmity between different communities, disrupt social cohesion, and religious harmony in our multiracial and multireligious society.”
“Any material that is derogatory to Singapore’s racial or religious communities” will be refused classification, according to the film classification guidelines.
Meanwhile, Shehzad Poonawala, the national spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has taken aim at the Congress party. He said that Dr. Shashi Tharoor’s celebration of the Singaporean government’s decision to prohibit the film ‘The Kashmir Files,’ a film that shows the truth of the Kashmiri Hindu genocide after 32 years, raises the question of why the Congress party is so helpful in suppressing the truth. Is it because they are being exposed by this film that they are suppressing it?.
He claimed that the Congress Party and the Aam Aadmi Party are competing to see who can mock the misery of Kashmiri Hindus the best; on the one hand, the AAP mocks them in assembly and laughs at their suffering, while the Congress Party rejoices when the film is banned in Singapore.
The Congress mocks the misery of Kashmiri Hindus yet again, celebrating the ban on #KashmirFiles in Singapore! Ironically, they profess to be advocates of free speech, but they want the truth about Kashmiri Hindu slaughter to be suppressed in order to protect Islamist Jihad against Kashmiri Hindus, he tweeted.
