Suryakumar Yadav, a middle-order batsman for India, has maintained his top spot in the ICC men's T20I batting rankings, which were released on Wednesday. This is due to his outstanding performance in the recently finished T20 World Cup in Australia. After a stellar performance in the Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup, when he hit three fifties in five innings, Suryakumar rose to the top spot among T20I batters. His performance enabled him to earn an 869-point rating, which was a career high. Suryakumar has managed to maintain his spot atop the leaderboard despite having a rating that fell to 859 after being dismissed for 14 in the semifinal match against England.
The 32-year-old finished the World Cup as the third-highest run scorer with 239 runs at an exceptional average and strike rate of 59.75 and 189.68, respectively. Alex Hales of England, who scored an unbeaten 86 from 47 deliveries against India in the semifinal, made a significant improvement by moving up 22 spots to No. 12. Hales finished the T20 World Cup as England's second-highest run scorer with 212 runs at an average of 42.40.
Since making his comeback to the England team earlier this year, Hales has been in fantastic form. His 430 T20I runs in 2022 have been scored at a fantastic average of 30.71 and a similarly excellent strike rate of 145.27. Babar Azam and Rilee Rossouw are two other batters who advanced to the top 10. The Pakistani captain moved up to No. 3 after scoring the game-winning fifty against New Zealand in the semifinal.
Glenn Phillips of New Zealand fell to eighth place, and Rossouw of South Africa moved up to seventh. In the T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh, Rossouw produced a wonderful century. Mohammad Rizwan, Devon Conway, and Aiden Markram are the other batters in the top five in addition to Suryakumar and Babar. Conway dropped to fourth after losing his third spot to Babar, while Rizwan and Markram both kept their second and fifth spots, respectively.
Adil Rashid has made the highest progress in the bowling rankings thanks to his outstanding efforts in the semifinal match against India and the championship match against Pakistan. Rashid gained five positions to move up to No. 3 after recording statistics of 1/20 and 2/22 in the two games, respectively. Following a Player of the Match performance of 3/12 in the championship match against Pakistan, his fellow countryman Sam Curran rose two spots to take the No. 5 position. Rashid Khan and Wanindu Hasaranga are still the top-ranked bowlers, respectively. Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Nabi, and Hardik Pandya continue to hold the top three slots in the all-rounders rankings, respectively.
