Tamil girl marries Bangladeshi woman in traditional Tamil Brahmin ceremony

Another instance of the same-sex marriage, which was once frowned upon by society but is now more common than it used to be.
In the capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai, a Hindu girl wed a Bangladeshi woman on Wednesday.
Traditional Tamil Brahmin rituals were followed for the same-sex wedding.
According to a report in The Times of India, Subiksha Subramani, the daughter of Tamil Brahmin immigrants to Calgary, Canada, married Tina, an orthodox Hindu from Bangladesh.

The pair wed in Tamil Brahmin manner with the approval of both families after six years of relationships and overcoming opposition to getting hitched.

Subiksha, a 29-year-old chartered accountant stated , “After years of persevering, we had our loved ones standing by us, clapping for us, and following every rite as per our respective customs – just how we’ve always hoped.”

Poornapushkala Subramani, Subiskha’s mother, claims that although they were worried about social criticism for the relationship, her daughter was able to persuade them by allaying all of their worries.

Tina, 35, claims that she was married when she made the decision to divorce her husband.
“I was raised in the little Bangladeshi town of Moulvibazar in the northeast.


Tina, who identifies as a lesbian, says of her parents, “My parents had no exposure to the LGBTQIA+ community; they assumed I had an illness and got me married when I was 19, expecting that would set it right.”

Nonetheless, Saurabh Bondre, a Sanskrit scholar and educator, married the couple after receiving approval from both families.
