Tamil Nadu’s top paddler dies in Meghalaya before the championship; huge loss to the nation
On Sunday, 18-year-old D Vishwa of Tamil Nadu, one of the country’s best young table tennis players, died in a fatal road accident while traveling from Guwahati to Shillong to compete in the 83rd Senior National Table Tennis Championship. The tragic death of a Tamil Nadu paddler who was on his way to Shillong to compete in the 83rd Senior National Table Tennis Championship has shocked the Meghalaya Table Tennis Association (MTTA).
Deenadayalan Vishwa (18 years), the young boy who died in the horrific accident, and three other Tamil Nadu players were traveling in a tourist cab from Guwahati Airport to Shillong today when their car was involved in an accident in Shangbangla, Ri-Bhoi.
It is estimated that the taxi was struck at 1:50pm by a 12-wheel truck from the opposite direction. Unfortunately, Vishwa passed away on his way to Nongpoh Civil Hospital. The other three were rushed to NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, from Nongpoh. According to doctors, their condition is stable and they are not in danger.
Meanwhile, in Nongpoh Civil Hospital, the youngster’s autopsy has been performed.
Meghalaya’s Chief Minister expressed his condolences over the unfortunate occurrence that claimed the life of such a promising young Indian talent. He sent his condolences to the grieving family.
However, according to sources, Vishwa’s father and other relatives would fly to Nongpoh to receive his mortal remains.
To ensure all formalities are completed, two members of the MTTA are stationed in Nongpoh. As well as facilitating the return of the body to Chennai, the district administration of Ri-Bhoi is using its resources to facilitate the process.
However, the loss of such a young, talented, and enthusiastic player is a big loss for not only the family, but the entire country.
