Clearing JEE mains with 96.48 percent for 19-year-old Avula Durgaprasad, who comes from a rural background, was an achievement not attainable for others, as he took the exam on the same day his mother died.
Durgaprasad’s scholastic excellence carries the hallmark of hard work and determination, which he was able to achieve with the help of his parents, particularly his mother. Durgaprasad, the younger of two brothers, passed his SCC with a 10/10 percentile and 940 marks in Intermediate. He attended schools and colleges in and around Khammam.
As a farmer, Durgaprasad’s father Mohan Reddy married her blind mother Narasamma even though he knew she was blind from birth. The couple’s first son, Jayasimha Reddy, is in his second year of law school in Hyderabad. It is a Maoist-affected region in Cherla mandal where Mohan Reddy hails from the remote Kaliveru village. He relocated his family to Khammam’s Kaikondaigudem for their education. Despite the difficulties of poverty, Durgaprasad never lost sight of his aim. He worked hard, residing in a room and studying just for the purpose of passing JEE.
Durgaprasad did not attend any training institutions because he could not afford them and instead relied on Google’s assistance. Meanwhile, her mother’s health began to deteriorate, and she died on the day Durgaprasad’s exam.
