Texas flash floods show vehicles partially submerged, roads blocked

Hundreds of people were forced to relocate to safer areas during a stormy weekend in Texas, United States, due to flash floods and severe rain. In the most recent weather disasters to affect national parks in the United States, at least one hiker was reported to have been washed away in the floods and was still missing on Monday.

With several inches of rain pouring over the course of two days, Texas experienced flash floods a few days after an extended period of extreme drought affected the state’s south-west area, which was typically tinder-dry. Inundated roads and vehicles that were partially submerged in flood waters were depicted in videos and pictures that were widely shared online.
