The Third Vande Bharat Express Reaches Chandigarh Railway Station From Chennai After Weeklong Trail

Despite surviving several difficulties, the third Vande Bharat train or also known as Train 18 was finally slated to be on track with improved acceleration and comfortable ride. On Thursday morning 18 of August, a brand new rake of Vande Bharat Express train arrived at Chandigarh railway station from Chennai for a week-long trial successful.

On August 12 the Vande Bharat Express train’s new prototype was inaugurated by the Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai. Railways plans to deploy as many as 475 such trains in the next four years.

The 160-kmph train was on trial for 45 days after coming out of the ICF and was expected to be ready for commercial operation before Durga Puja.

According to details, the train comprised 18 coaches and reached Chandigarh railway station from Chennai around 7.45 am on Thursday, with its trial likely to start on Friday. The train will be tested at a speed of 110 kmph on the 91km Chandigarh-Sanahwal stretch. Post the seven-day trial here, the train will be taken to Kota in Rajasthan for high-speed (180 mph) trials.
