The wreckage of a Russian missile shot down by Ukraine settles in a Moldovan village

According to Moldova's Interior Ministry, missile debris landed in the northern Moldovan village of Naslavcea on Monday morning after a Russian fusillade was intercepted by air defences in neighbouring Ukraine.

No one was injured, but the windows of many private homes in Naslavcea, which borders Ukraine, were damaged, according to the ministry.

According to Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu, the Russian strike targeted a Ukrainian dam on the Nistru river, which runs through Ukraine and Moldova.

"Attacks on water infrastructure and the resulting strain on the river could put the entire region at risk of flooding," he added, criticising Russian aggression against Ukraine "in the strongest terms possible."

According to Ukrainian officials, Russia launched scores of missiles against Ukraine on Monday, smashing energy facilities, creating blackouts, and shutting off water supply in certain areas.

The Moldovan Defense Ministry stated that its radars had not identified any unauthorised flights in its airspace and that the missile debris was not picked up due to the size of the shrapnel.
