Two Arrested in Connection with the Murder of an Old Woman: Guwahati, Assam
On Monday, two persons were arrested in connection with the murder of an old woman in Guwahati, one of them was a woman. The body of the woman, Anu Hazarika, was discovered on Monday in the Kalapahar region of the city, according to reports. Baharul Islam and Rubina have been named as the suspects. Two more suspects are being sought by police.
“We are practically finished with the investigation and have arrested two persons.” Rubina is the wife of the main suspect, who is currently on the run alongside another main suspect. “We have already received indications that they have fled the state,” Guwahati Commissioner of Police Harmeet Singh told TOI.
The main reason for the murder, according to the investigators, was property and money. The murder had been plotted by all four defendants. In addition, authorities are looking into the deceased’s bank account information to see whether any withdrawals have been made recently.
