UK President Boris Johnson visited Ukraine unannounced on the country’s national day, to extend support to President Volodymyr Zelensky and the people of Ukraine on Wednesday.
Ukraine marks its 31st Independence Day and exactly six months of Russia’s all-out war on August 24. Boris and Zenlensky were spotted walking in central Kyiv. Boris is also among those whose name has been listed on the “Walk of the Brave” along with Polish President Andrzej Duda who became the first foreign representative to receive an award on the Walk of the Brave.
Earlier he said to the Poland President, “I wanted to unveil the Walk of the Brave in the presence of Polish President Andrzej Duda. His name will be on this sidewalk forever. It is a symbol of bravery, a symbol of friendship, a symbol of support for Ukraine when it is really needed.”
Boris on his visit to Ukraine said, “What happens in Ukraine matters to us all. That is why I am in Kyiv today. That is why the UK will continue to stand with our Ukrainian friends. I believe Ukraine can and will win this war.”
President Zenlensky expressed his gratitude by writing and sharing pictures with UK President in a telegram, it reads “Boris, the whole country wants to thank you for your unwavering and strong support not only in words but also historically. That’s why your name appeared on the Walk of the Brave today.”
“My friend, thank you for your visit today and your continued strong support for our country and people. Always glad to see you on Ukrainian land!” He added.
