Ukraine commits 'nuclear terrorism,' says Russia's defense minister
Russian soldiers were taking "all steps" to protect the safety of the nuclear power plant.
Sergei Shoigu, the minister of defense for Russia, claimed on Tuesday that Ukraine was purposefully posing the possibility of a nuclear catastrophe by continuing to shell the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power station.
In the face of what he referred to as "nuclear terrorism" from Kyiv, Shoigu claimed that Russian soldiers were taking "all steps" to protect the safety of the nuclear power plant.
The building, which Russian soldiers have been in charge of since the beginning of the conflict, was shelled, but Ukraine denies doing so.
Since the beginning of the conflict, Russian forces have controlled the facility, which Ukraine claims was shelled by Russian soldiers.
In a conference call with his military chiefs, Shoigu stated, "Our forces are taking all measures to ensure the safety of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power facility." An edited transcript of the call was made public by the defence ministry.
