Following speeches on censorship by Bollywood heavyweights Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, a dispute has arisen between the BJP and the Trinamool. Priyanka Chaturvedi, a Shiv Sena lawmaker, praised their stance against "controversies daily produced around movies, moral policing, and boycott calls." The Shiv Sena MP made the statement in response to calls for a boycott of the 2023 release of Pathaan, which stars Deepika Padukone and SRK.The BJP officials questioned the usage of saffron colour in Deepika Padukone's bikini in a song titled "Besharam ring" or "unabased colour," which is the sole song from the movie that has been released. Along with calls for a boycott of the film, the information and broadcasting ministry has also received a complaint regarding a song. In their statements at the Kolkata International Film Festival's opening ceremony on Thursday, Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan both discussed film censorship.
"Social media is frequently fueled by a particular narrowness of perspective that constricts human nature...
I've read that negativity raises social media usage and, hence, social media's market worth. Such endeavours cage a collective narrative, making it polarising and damaging, Shah Rukh Khan observed in his initial response to the commotion.
Amitabh Bachchan stated that Indian cinema is already raising concerns about freedom and civil liberties when discussing the evolution of cinema.
The BJP's Amit Malviya claimed Amitabh Bachchan's remarks held a mirror up to Mamata Banerjee, sparking a social media conflict between the two parties over the remarks.
