In a Michigan school, an unexpected incident occurred when a kindergarten student brought a premixed alcoholic drink to class and shared it with many classmates.
The incident was discovered on April 15 when a child served a Tequila-infused drink to other preschoolers. The child carried the drink in his school backpack and shared it with his classmates, explaining that it was a juice. The other students were queasy and disoriented after drinking a few cups. The drink eventually generated a ruckus in the school, as parents became concerned after learning about the occurrence.
Alexis Smith, a parent of a 5-year-old student at Grand River Academy in Livonia, said she was alerted by the school about the incident on Thursday morning, according to NBC station WDIV-TV. Smith told the publication that she was told during the conversation that a student brought a premixed bottle of Jose Cuervo to school and that her daughter was one of four students who shared it.
“I asked her, ‘Is my daughter all right?'” Smith told WDIV-TV that he remembered something. “‘She’s right here, and she seems fine,’ the teacher added. ‘Okay, then, how much did she drink?’ I said.”
According to Smith, the school was unable to provide her with that information.
The school principal reportedly addressed a letter to the entire school community on Thursday, addressing the event.
According to WDIV, “a kid brought a premixed alcoholic drink to school, which was shared with a few other pupils.” “When the school administration learned of this, they quickly followed correct medical standards and alerted the parents of the pupils involved.”
The letter reportedly added, “Disciplinary procedures will be conducted in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.” “I am unable to share detailed facts due to student privacy rules. What I can say is that our school community’s safety and well-being remain a top priority, which is why we acted quickly to address the matter.”
