Uttarakhand leader expelled by BJP after his son arrested for murdering teenager; resort set on fire
Following his son’s arrest in a teen’s murder case in Uttarakhand, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday dismissed the leader from the party’s core membership. The primary defendant Pulkit Arya’s father, Vinod Arya, was a former state minister and chairman of the Uttarakhand Mati Kala Board. The state government also terminated Ankit Arya’s employment as the Deputy Chairman of the Uttarakhand Other Backward Classes Commission. Ankit is Pulkit Arya’s brother.
Locals set fire to the resort owned by the accused as they destroyed it in a fit of rage over the suspected death of a 19-year-old lady by Vinod Arya’s son, Pulkit Arya. Pushkar Singh Dhami, chief minister of Uttarakhand, who expressed sorrow over the woman’s death and announced the formation of a SIT under the direction of DIG police P Renuka Devi, ordered the demolition of a portion of the resort earlier.
