Watch: "Alcoholic Monkey" steals and drinks beer from a shop in UP; video goes viral

In Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, a video of a monkey sipping beer has gone viral on social media. A monkey is shown in the video consuming beer from a can. According to reports, this monkey steals booze from customers of a local wine shop.

A shop assistant claimed that the monkey frequently attempted to steal bottles from the store in addition to stealing drinks from customers.

After developing a taste for alcohol, the monkey in UP has proven to be more trouble than it's worth. Customers at a liquor store in the Achalganj neighbourhood have complained that the "alcoholic monkey" has stolen their drinks. According to media reports, Shyam Sundar, a salesman at the wine shop, has asked the Forest Department for assistance in shooing the ape away.

The monkey may be seen consuming beer from a bottle in another video. The video was posted to Twitter on October 30 by a user by the name of Anurag Mishra with the statement, "In Rae Bareli, a video of a monkey drinking booze became viral, which takes wine from the people arriving to the liquor shop and gets swallowed."
