The video from Madhya Pradesh’s Kachhar village shows fire and water gushing out from the common tube well releasing methane gas from the underneath ground. This phenomenon has been circulating on social media platforms currently.
Kachhar is located 10 kilometres from the Bakswaha panchayat in the Chhatarpur district. The officials, in the area, have been informed about the unusual sighting.
The reason behind this is being said that the highly flammable methane gas is being released from the ground. In nature, methane is produced by the anaerobic bacterial composition of vegetable matter underwater (where it is sometimes called marsh gas or swamp gas). Wetlands are the major natural source of methane produced in this way.
