Praveen Kumar Giri wins Silver for India in Water Technology at the World Skills Competition 2022
Praveen Kumar Giri, a B.Tech final year student at C.V. Raman Global University in Odisha, received a silver medal for India in Water Technology at the World Skills Competition 2022, which took place on Monday in Stuttgart, Germany.
Between September 7 and November 26, 2022, 52 skill events will be held in 15 countries over the course of 12 weeks.
Water Technology is one of the most emerging technologically advanced skills, requiring knowledge of Mechatronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Information Technology, and Electrical Engineering. It was included in the most recent world skill competition 2019 in Kazan, where Aswastha Narayana won India’s first ever Gold medal in Water Technology. Since then, several Indian kids have been on an unstoppable wonderful ride, with Praveen Kumar Giri capturing silver for the country.
He told ANI, “I feel proud and happy, and my family and college friends are also happy.” It is a moment of pride for India. We hope to see more young people join and bring honour to India on a global scale. This time, seven countries engaged in water technology, including Singapore, Japan, South Africa, Germany, and Korea.”
“I just missed gold by a hair’s breadth of 0.5 percent.” Singapore earned gold this year, while India took silver. “Japan was in third place with bronze,” Giri explained, revealing the narrow margin by which he missed out on gold.
“The requisite education for water technology is not now available in India which must be formulated,” remarked Rajat Kumar Samantray, Jury member for India.
