According to Pakistani media, the Pakistan International Airlines has sent an internal message directing the cabin crew to be appropriately attired, including wearing appropriate undergarments. The memo, as described by Geo TV, which also referred to the ‘undergarments’ instruction as weird, claimed that the poor appearance of the cabin crew is creating a bad impression and reflecting negatively on the airlines.
The instruction memo read as follows, according to the Geo TV, which claimed to have it: “With considerable concern, it has been noted that some members of the cabin crew like to wear casual attire when traveling intercity, staying in hotels, and visiting various establishments. Such attire gives the wrong impression to the onlooker and presents a poor reflection on both the wearer and the organization.”
It stated that the cabin personnel must dress appropriately in formal plain clothing over “suitable undergarments.” The rule reportedly stated that the apparel should also be in keeping with Pakistan’s culture and national principles.
