In the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the West Bengal government fired a gun salute to singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, better known as KK, who died shortly after a concert in Kolkata on Tuesday night. At 2.30 p.m., an ambulance arrived at Rabindra Sadan with KK’s body in a wooden coffin. During the gun salute at 2.43 p.m., senior ministers stood beside KK’s wife and children.
A green corridor will be used to transport the singer’s body to the airport. Around 5 p.m., his family would depart for Mumbai.
Staff personnel at the Nazrul Manch, where the event was held, stated the audience was overflowing, with some jumping over the fence and breaking the gates.
“KK’s show started at 7:00 p.m. He was perspiring and drinking water every now and then. He only departed after finishing the program. The capacity of our seats was 2,482, but the crowd was more than double that. The gate was shattered by the mob. Outside the auditorium, the spray was used to disperse the audience. Their (organizer) bouncers were the ones who did it. Inside the auditorium, no spray was used “Chandan Maity, a member of the Nazrul Mancha team, stated the news agency ANI.
