With 174 points, Parag leads Assam past J&K

In their Vijay Hazare quarterfinal match on Monday, Assam defeated Jammu & Kashmir by chasing down a huge target of 351 in 46.1 overs thanks to a magnificent 116-ball 174 from Riyan Parag.

Assam won the match by seven wickets thanks to Parag, who hit 12 sixes and 12 fours in the process.

Assam dropped to 45 for two when Parag and Rishav Das (114 off 118 balls) got into the act in response to J&K's 350, which was based on tonnes by Henan Nazir (124 off 113 balls, 5 fours, 5 sixes), and Shubham Khajuria (120 off 84 balls, 8 fours, 8 sixes).

In an aggressive mindset, the 21-year-old Parag entered the rival bowling match while hitting. He kept coming through the ropes, so he didn't think twice about crossing the field. 

The J&K bowlers, who had been outstanding throughout the competition, had no idea what to do after the right-handed batter and Das put together a mammoth 277-run partnership.

In the present Hazare Trophy, Parag scored his third century, making an arduous assignment seem simple for Assam.

Parag fell 29 runs short of the goal, but Das, who took a backseat, guided Assam to victory with 23 balls remaining.

When J&K was put in to bat, they had a strong start thanks to openers Khajuria and Vivrant Sharma (34), who put on 74 runs in 11.4 overs. Khajuria and Nazir added 129 runs for the second wicket after Sharma was bowled out. Following Khajuria's removal by Avinov Choudhury (2/47) there was a brief collapse, but Nazir and Fazil Rashid put up 113 runs for the fifth wicket (53 runs off of 46 balls, 3 fours, and 2 sixes).
