In a tragic incident that occurred today in Pakistan, ten persons were killed and several others were injured in an explosion at a building in Karachi’s Shershah Paracha Chowk area, according to ANI, quoting Pakistani media.
Meanwhile, police have arrived on the scene and are conducting a rescue effort. Those who have been injured are being transported to a local hospital. Multiple persons are believed to be trapped beneath the rubble, according to reports.
According to accounts, the blast happened in a drain beneath a private bank near Paracha Chowk in Karachi’s Shershah neighborhood. According to Dawn, station house officer Zafar Ali Shah stated that the bank had been handed a warning to leave the building so that the drain could be cleaned, and that the accumulation of gases in the pipe is suspected as the cause of the incident.
