Sarma urges officials: Change perspective to ensure that Assam climbs the development ladder by 2026

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, has asked members of his cabinet, lawmakers, and bureaucrats to “alter their thinking” and work toward a goal that will see the state advance “by at least two levels” on the development scale by 2026. Sarma stated at the opening of a “Chintan Shivir” that it is time for Assam to “re-emerge” as a developed state. “Assam is no longer able to live with the scar left by the fact that it can only be counted from the bottom up in terms of the country’s progress… We must maintain our dignity and refrain from always seeking help from the Center “said he.

If everyone works together and is committed, there are many development indicators that can be improved in the next two to three years, according to the chief minister. “We have to decide how Assam can go up by at least two levels by 2026,” he added. He stated that the path during the previous 75 years should have been one of development, expansion, and desire because “at the time of Independence, Assam’s per capita income was greater than the national average.”

According to Sarma, there is no need to create visions for the next 50 years because no one can predict who will be alive to see them through to completion or to review them.

“We need to examine what we can contribute by 2026 since we’re in a rush… It has been noticed throughout the past few decades… Ministers and bureaucrats have almost accepted that Assam can no longer be a developed state as a result of that thinking slipping into their heads. The decision-makers must have a vision of an advanced Assam in order to alter this mentality. “I am convinced that the federal government has never ignored our state. We will realise that we have failed as a group if we look at the budgetary allocation and the investments made by the Center, and we will then blame them to save face, he continued. The CM stated that the “Chintan Shivir” has been organised to discuss and debate a number of problems.
