According to the Centre, at least 10,800 Indians have been taken back by special planes from Ukraine’s neighbouring countries as part of Operation Ganga. Three Indian Air Force C-17 planes and 14 civilian flights assisted in the evacuation, with one more civilian flight anticipated to arrive later today. Meanwhile, two Russian IL-76 strategic lift planes are ready to fly to Moscow as soon as Indian people evacuated from the northeastern cities of Kharkiv and Sumi are transported to Moscow.
The C-17 aircraft, according to the government, carried 630 passengers, while civilian airlines evacuated 9,364 Indian nationals. Seven Indian Air Force flights have returned 1,428 Indian citizens and supplied 9.7 tonnes of relief supplies to Ukraine. On Friday, there were four civilian flights from Bucharest (Romania), two from Kosice (Slovakia), four from Budapest (Hungary), and three from Rzeszow (Poland) (Poland). The IAF operated two flights, one from Bucharest and the other from Budapest.
More than 2200 Indian passengers are expected to return home on Saturday aboard 11 special civilian planes, ten of which will land in New Delhi and one in Mumbai. The number of flights to Budapest will be five, those to Rzeszow will be two, and those to Suceava will be four. C-17 aircraft have departed for Romania, Poland, and Slovakia. They are scheduled to arrive in those countries late tomorrow night or early tomorrow morning.
