After Russian bombings that killed 18 individuals, including two children, a residential area in Sumy was reduced to ruins. Since Vladimir Putin’s invasion began 13 days ago, the city in north-eastern Ukraine has been heavily shelled.
Last night, the Russian president is accused of dropping 500-kilogram bombs on homes in two of the country’s streets. According to Anton Gerashchenko, the Interior Minister’s Adviser, 18 civilians were killed as a result of strikes on Romenska and Spartaka Streets.
They claimed that rescuers were dispatched to clean up the wreckage following Russia’s ‘ruthless strike on the housing sector’ in a ‘insidious attack.’
Images illustrate the extent of the strikes’ impact, with homes completely demolished. After the explosions caused residential buildings to take fire, footage shared by Ukraine’s Parliament showed a wildfire ripping through the debris.
