Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29.
In a shootout with the police on Wednesday in the Amritsar district village of Cheecha Bhakna, two gang members were murdered. Near the Punjab-Attari border, an encounter that lasted more than four hours took place. The two thugs allegedly involved in the fight had ties to the murder of the singer and politician Sidhu Moose Wala.
The men — Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kusa and Jagroop Singh alias Roopa — were believed to be hiding in the village when police received a tip that led to the encounter.
From each side, hundreds of shots have been fired. A few police officers have also been shot and injured.
The area has been blocked off by the police, and access to the road leading to the farmhouse, where the criminals were allegedly hiding, is prohibited.
Inspector Shiv Kumar and DSP Bikram Brar, both members of the anti-gangster task force, served as the team’s leaders.
In Punjab’s Mansa district, Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, better known as Sidhu Moosewala, was shot and killed on May 29. The incident took place a day after his security was withdrawn by the Punjab police among 424 others.
Notably, the musician joined the Congress party the year before the Assembly elections in December.
