According to the reports, a terrible incident occurred today on 23rd July early morning, probably between 1:30 am to 2:30 am when the devotees were returning back to their native place Gwalior from Haridwar with their Kanwars. The devotees of Lord Shiva, religiously said as kanwariyas collect water from river Ganga at Haridwar to offer that in the temples of Shiva.
Report by the police, seven kanwariyas were mowed down by the truck out of which 5 found spot dead, 2 were seriously injured and taken to the hospital, thereafter from them also 1 reported dead in the mishap. They were en route to Gwalior from Haridwar with their Kanwars, as said by Rajeev Krishna, ADG of Agra Zone. He also said that the investigation is being done as the driver got arrested based on the information.
Further Rs. 1 Lakh each has been announced for each of the kanwariyas who died into that accident, as said by the Office Deputy Collector, Sadabad ( Hathras).
