2 held for terror met Pakistani Army Major seen in Abhinandan photo

According to a chargesheet filed in a Delhi court, two men arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell had identified a Pakistani army officer as one of the people they met while undergoing training in Pakistan based on a photograph showing the officer with IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who was in Pakistani custody for a brief period three years ago.

The chargesheet was filed on February 9 of this year, and the court took cognizance of it on Monday.

According to the chargesheet, the Pakistani “Major” was one of nine people mentioned by the two accused, Zeeshan Qamar (28), a resident of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh, and Osama alias Sami (22), a resident of Jamia Nagar in Delhi. According to the chargesheet, both were allegedly trained by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

“One Hamza has been recognized; he is from PoK and stays in Islamabad.” He oversaw the training that the accused Zeeshan and Osama received from one Jabbar in Rawalpindi. Hamza further told them that he was present when Wing Commander Abhinandan was apprehended near the Pakistani border in retaliation for the Balakot air strike. In the chargesheet, Investigation Officer ACP Lalit Mohan Negi writes, “He is a Major in the Pakistan Army.”
