200 Chinese Troops Entered Indian Border; Line Of Control (LAC) Arunachal Pradesh
According to sources, over 200 Chinese People’s Liberation Army personnel crossed into Indian territory last week, resulting in a clash with the Indian Army near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh.
It happened during a regular patrol along the LAC in Tawang Sector near Yangtse.
Around 200 PLA soldiers crossed into India from Tibet and attempted to damage unoccupied bunkers, which were intercepted by Indian troops.
This resulted in a confrontation between the commanders at the local level, which was amicably settled. They got together to de-escalate and disengage from the issue.
According to top government officials, the standoff between the two sides lasted a few hours and was resolved according to protocol. During the engagement, no damage was done to the Indian defences.
According to sources, the India-China border has not been formally demarcated, and as a result, the two countries’ perceptions of the LAC disagree.
“Adherence to existing agreements and conventions between the two countries has allowed for peace and tranquility in these areas of conflicting perceptions,” the source said.
For the past 16 months, India and China have been at odds over the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh.
The disengagement has gone through 12 rounds of commander-level talks so far, with the 13th round set for mid-October.
