A large fire raced through a three-story structure in West Delhi’s Mundka district on Friday, killing at least 27 people in the national capital. Several persons have been badly injured while over 50 people have been evacuated in a rescue effort. The death toll in the catastrophe is sure to rise as the rescue operation continues.
According to preliminary investigations, the fire started on the first level of the building, which held the offices of a company that makes CCTV cameras and Wi-Fi routers. According to reports, the firm’s owners have been seized, and a search for the building’s owner has begun.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his sympathies to the families of those killed in the devastating incident on Friday night. “Deeply saddened by the deaths caused by a horrific fire in Delhi. My heart goes out to the bereaved family. He remarked on Twitter, “I wish the injured a speedy recovery.”
