3 militants killed in 'URI' Operation; AK-47, Grenades, Pistols recovered

URI actions resulted in the deaths of three terrorists and the seizure of a considerable quantity of weaponry and ammunition. Other weapons discovered were an AK47, grenades, and other firearms. The terrorists' activity was spotted along the Line of Control (LOC) earlier this week. The army has initiated a search operation in the URI sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The intrusion took place on the 5th anniversary of the URI attacks.

The operation is still going on, and the Army and police in Jammu and Kashmir will hold a joint press conference to brief the country on the situation.

However, on Wednesday, the Army's search operation in the Guhallan area of Uri in northern Kashmir reached its fourth day, with personnel seeking for a group of infiltrators accused of crossing the Line of Control.

According to sources, the Army began the operation on Sunday after a patrol group reported a fire incident near the LoC in Guhallan, where one of its men got a flesh cut in his hand. A group of infiltrators attempting to cross the Line of Control was reported to officials.

To guarantee that the suspected group did not establish contact with anyone on this side of the border, massive search operations were launched in the region, and mobile and internet services were suspended. The Army also deployed personnel from select battalions in the towns of Baramullah and Uri to ensure that infiltrators did not escape the cordon and flee.

On Tuesday, postpaid mobile services and mobile internet were reintroduced after a three-day hiatus, however, a local resident informed us that public movement restrictions remain in place. "No one is allowed to enter or exit the Guhallan area," stated a Uri resident.

The Army was still unsure whether the infiltrators had turned back or succeeded to infiltrate the jungle on this side of the LoC on the day after the operation began in Uri, according to Lieutenant General DP Pandey, the General Officer Commanding Srinagar-based 15 Corps.

According to a senior official, the Army had dispatched sniffer dogs to track the infiltrators till they came near to the LoC wire.
