Bengaluru police nabbed a group of four for operating a bogus courier business in the city and defrauding consumers by demanding advance payments. The fraudsters pretended to be booking agents for respected courier service companies by exploiting Google adverts.
Four members of a gang were detained by Bengaluru police for operating a fraudulent courier service in the city and defrauding customers by requesting upfront payments.
The deputy commissioner for the North East, Anoop A Shetty, also tweeted a warning to the public: “Four suspects were detained by the North East Cybercrime Police for operating a courier service fraud in Bangalore. The accused accepted advance payments while posting Google advertising with their phone numbers as prominent courier company booking contacts.”

When contacting the customer service number you found through a Google search, use caution. For the company’s customer service/booking contact information, go to their official website. 127 desktops, four laptops, 150 headphones, ten internal hard discs, six iPhones, three luxury automobiles, two school vans, one tempo traveller, and 18 lakh in cash were seized by police.
