Five South African tourists who landed in Bengaluru between November 28 and December 1 are “missing,” which means officials have no idea where they are. In the aftermath of the threat posed by Omicron, the new SARS-CoV2 variant of concern, the BBMP has been watching all arrivals from countries classified as ‘at risk’ for the previous three weeks.
Specific attention is being placed on passengers from South Africa after the country’s first Omicron infection was discovered and confirmed on Thursday in a traveler from the African country. Since December 1, all visitors from South Africa and numerous other ‘at risk’ countries have been required to take an RT-PCR test at the port of entry. Health officials, on the other hand, are keeping track of visitors who landed at KIA from South Africa in the last three weeks.
The Omicron strain has caused a lot of concern among the populace. People have not yet recovered from the last variant, and the addition of a new one is disastrous.
