Akhilesh Yadav, the president of the Samajwadi Party and previous district president of Azamgarh, will run for two seats in the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh: Mubarakpur and Karhal in the Yadav family stronghold of Mainpuri.
Mubarakpur is an assembly segment in the district of Azamgarh. Shah Alam of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) presently holds the Mubarakpur Vidhan Sabha seat, which he won by a razor-thin margin of 688 votes over Akhilesh Yadav in the 2017 state assembly elections.
The Samajwadi Party presented its updated list of 24 candidates for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections on Monday. Sabhawati Shukla will run against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the Gorakhpur (Urban) assembly constituency, according to the party.
Assembly elections are expected to take place in five states: Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa, and Punjab in February- March 2022. Uttar Pradesh, the most populous and strategically important state in the country, has already seen long rallies by top politicians from both the government and opposition parties. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress’s top leader, is leading the campaign. She’s speaking at rallies all around the state, pledging to bring about change if her party controls the next government. Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and Mayawati of the BSP, both former CMs of Uttar Pradesh, are also going all out to court votes.
