Apple's latest iOS beta will give users additional control over the always-on display on their iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max smartphones.

The latest developer beta for the next iOS 16.2 features toggles that allow users to hide the wallpaper and notifications when utilising the function, according to MacRumors and 9to5Mac.

When both are turned off with always-on enabled, the user will only see a clock and their lockscreen widgets when the phone is locked.

On iOS, users can have an always-on display that shows wallpaper and notifications, or they can turn it off, leaving the phone's screen blank when it's locked and asleep, according to The Verge.

The iPhone 14 Pro's always-on display has perplexed several users since its release. While some people appreciate having their wallpaper always blazing at them (with exact colours, despite the faded appearance), others find it distracting.

According to The Verge, Apple appears to have heard that feedback and is working to make it a reality, though it's worth noting that a feature appearing in a beta version isn't a guarantee that it'll be included in the final OS.
