Army Cheetah helicopter crashes near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, killing one pilot

On Wednesday during a normal mission, an Army helicopter that was flying in the forward region close to Tawang, one of India’s final points on the China border, crashed, killing one of its two pilots.

“An army aviation Cheetah helicopter crashed today, October 5, at around 10 a.m., while on a regular mission in the advanced region near Tawang. Both pilots were transported to the closest military hospital, according to a statement made public by an Army public relations officer in Tezpur, Assam.

One of the pilots later died from his injuries, according to the statement, although the second pilot was receiving medical attention.

Lieutenant Colonel Saurabh Yadav, according to sources, was the pilot who passed away.
The Army has not stated what caused the plane to crash. Its statement read, “Details are being verified.”
