Arunachal girl became the first Indian to win medal at G2 World Taekwondo
Arunachal Pradesh’s Rupa Bayor becomes the first Indian athlete to win a medal at a G2 event in World Taekwondo.
Arunachal Upper Subansiri native Bayor won bronze at the 8th Croatia Open International Taekwondo Championship held in the capital city of Croatia.
She won first place in the U-30 female senior 1 Poomsae event and silver in the senior pair tournament with another Indian player, Rahul Jain.
Office of Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju announced the news on Twitter. “Congratulations to Kumari Rupa Bayor, the first Indian woman to earn a medal in World Taekwondo’s G2 event. She won the bronze medal in the 8th Croatia Open International Taekwondo Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, making Arunachal Pradesh proud,” it said.
