By next week, Shillong may be seeing substantially cooler weather.
The inhabitants of Meghalaya will get shivers when they learn that the mercury would drop even more next week, making it much colder.
According to the Indian Metrological Department in Shillong, the temperature in Shillong would drop to five degrees Celsius next week.
The temperature is also expected to decrease significantly in January.
It should be noted that Shillong has recently seen a rise in visitor inflow, primarily from the states of Assam and West Bengal.
Hoteliers have reported that most Shillong-based hotels are fully booked, confirming the healthy inflow of tourists to Shillong.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a warning that thunderstorms, lightning, and hail may occur in Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh today.
Just a few days earlier, the state capital of Meghalaya experienced one of the coldest days in recent memory after hailstones pelted sections of the state.
