“Assam becoming haven for Islamic fundamentalist, successful operation of jihadi…”; Himanta Biswa Sarma
Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, claimed on Thursday that the region’s state is evolving into a haven for Islamic fundamentalists as a result of the police discovering connections between 11 people detained last week, among them one who was in charge of a Madrasa, and the Ansarul Bangla Team, a terrorist organisation based in Bangladesh.
Sarma claimed that police found incriminating Islamic material designed to radicalise and indoctrinate young people into joining the organisation, as well as high-end electronic gadgets used by sleeper cells in Barpeta, Bongaigaon, and Morigaon.

Imagine the gravity when 5 modules are destroyed and the locations of the remaining 5 Bangladeshi nationals are still unknown. That is the situation, according to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
In the districts of Morigaon and Barpeta, the Assam police recently dismantled two modules of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS). Al-Qaeda was attempting to build a foothold and footprint in Assam, according to Hiren Nath, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) (Special Branch) of the Assam police, but they were foiled.
“We discovered that Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent and the Ansarullah Bangla Team had translated and disseminated certain Jihadi literature as well as some Bengali and Assamese-language publications that had nothing to do with Assam. Additionally, we have discovered some information about certain efforts to trace their footsteps, particularly in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh’s border regions.
