Assam Floods: People take shelter on highways, embankments in Nagaon; Silchar remains in dire situation

As a result of the district’s continued flooding, a number of residents of Assam’s Nagaon district have been forced to seek refuge in embankments and roadways.

According to news agency ANI, some residents of Assam’s Nagaon district have been forced to seek refuge on embankments and highways as several areas continue to be under water. The flood waters are still covering a large portion of the Raha revenue circle in the Nagaon district.

The disastrous floods in Assam claimed ten more lives on Friday, affecting 33.03 lakh people across 28 districts, while Silchar town in the Cachar district remained underwater for the fifth straight day, according to official authorities.
The people are sleeping in tents next to the roads because their homes are still submerged in water. In 155 villages inside the Raha assembly seat, the floods have affected more than 1.42 lakh people.
The terrible flood destroyed numerous structures, including roads, bridges, and embankments in the Kampur revenue circle.
