Tiruchi Siva, MP for the DMK Rajya Sabha, has requested suspension of business in the Rajya Sabha due to the price rise in petroleum products. This increases the price of essential commodities. Elamaram Kareem, MP for the CPI(M), requested suspension of business due to price rises and GST on essential items. Congress MP Manickam Tagore filed an adjournment motion notice regarding the imposition of 5% GST in the Lok Sabha.
Opposition leaders have stated that they will continue to press the government on these matters. On Monday, the first day of Parliament’s monsoon session, the opposition assailed the administration over price rises.
On Monday evening, Rajya Sabha Leader Mallikarjun Kharge stated that the protests would continue both inside and outside the House on Tuesday. “We will oppose it tomorrow, both within and outside the House, at the Gandhi statue.” “We have asked to all parties to fight price increases and GST hikes,” Kharge stated.
Binoy Viswam, a member of the Communist Party of India, has also stated that the party will “fight it.”
