In response to criticism of Baba Ramdev for a recent remark he made about women and their clothes, the yoga master apologized publicly and said that his words had been misinterpreted. Baba Ramdev has said something divisive regarding women's apparel, adding that "women look good without clothes." He made these remarks while sat next to Amruta Fadnavis, the spouse of Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra.

Immediately following the contentious comments, the head of the Maharashtra Commission for Women, Chakankar, tweeted in Marathi, "Baba Ramdev alias Ram Kisan Yadav had made a very low-level statement on women in a public event in Thane. Taking this assertion seriously, the State Commission for Women has requested an answer from Baba Ramdev, also known as Ram Kisan Yadav, within the next two days.

She later shared a letter written by Baba Ramdev in which he apologized for his comments, claimed they were misinterpreted, and noted that he had always advocated for women's emancipation.
