Babul Supriyo actor cum politician, and an MLA for the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has been named the party’s national spokesperson. Supriyo, a former union minister, expressed gratitude to the party boss for granting him the new job on the microblogging platform Twitter. “Honorable Didi @MamataOfficial and @abhishekaitc have my deepest thanks for including me in the prestigious Team of National Spokespersons of @AITCofficial. I’ll do everything in my power to uphold the faith placed in me, ” he tweeted.
Supriyo’s selection as the country’s spokesperson, according to a senior TMC official, was a component of the party’s plan to broaden its support beyond Bengal.
