Nalanda: Under-construction bridge collapses; 2 workers dead; many feared buried by debris
On Friday, an unfinished bridge in the Bena police station area of Bihar's Nalanda region collapsed. How many persons are buried beneath the debris is unknown. Bhagan Bigha Chowk is where the incident happened. The overbridge collapsed in substantial parts while the Bakhtiyarpur-Rajauli route was being built. Apparently, two workers died on the spot.
Police officers from Bhagan Bigha and Vena police stations hurried to the scene to assess the situation and speed up the rescue effort.
A four-lane overbridge was being built, according to BDO Laxman Kumar, at the time of the event.
