One more body was found at the scene of the stone quarry collapse in Mizoram's Hnahthial district, bringing the death toll there to 11, an official reported on Thursday.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to deputy commissioner R Lalremsanga, the body of a 25-year-old man from Lunglei was found among the rubble. When the quarry fell, 12 persons, ages 18 to 49, were trapped inside.

Lalremsanga claimed that efforts were being made to find the final unaccounted-for person, an Assamese.

After the quarry in Maudarh village caved in on Monday, employees of ABCI Infrastructures Private Limited and contractors were trapped.

According to the police, one labourer made it out unharmed. West Bengal accounted for five of those slain, Jharkhand and Assam for two, Tripura and Mizoram for one.

On Wednesday, the 11 victims' bodies were sent to their respective states. According to eyewitnesses, the workers allegedly dug too deeply, which caused the collapse when a landslide struck.
