Chief Minister N.Biren Singh files nomination papers for the fifth time; Manipur Election
Nongthombam Biren Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur and a BJP candidate, filed his nomination papers for re-election to the Heingang Assembly Constituency in Imphal East district on Saturday for the fifth time
Between 2002 and 2017, the 61-year-old Congress turned BJP leader was elected to the state Assembly for the fourth time in a row. He was joined by Manipur state BJP President Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi when he filed his candidacy to the Returning Officer Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba.
“It gives me enormous joy to file the nomination as the BJP candidate from Heingang AC at the Office of Returning Officer today,” Singh, who served in the Border Security Force (BSF) after being picked for his outstanding football skills, tweeted.
