In Panigaon, Lakhimpur, an 85-year-old priest has been detained on suspicion of sexually assaulting and impregnating a young girl. The 15-year-old girl’s mother discovered she was pregnant, which is how the incident came to light. The victim’s mother stated that the priest, who has been identified as Bhola Baba, raped her daughter and used to call her for doing chores before forcing himself on her.
“He would call my daughter for chores and then rape her,” she said. According to the girl’s mother, he also threatened to punish her severely if she exposed the same to other people. She added that Baba had made a financial concession to resolve the conflict.
The priest, who was well-known to the family, allegedly forced the victim girl to perform several tasks at the temple before raping her.
She claims that the accused additionally threatened her with negative outcomes if she told anybody about the incident.
