On Thursday, the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China launched a new Earth-observation satellite.
Gaofen-3 03, a satellite launched by a Long March-4C rocket at 7:47 a.m., has successfully entered the planned orbit, according to Xinhua news agency. The Long March series carrier rockets are now on their 414th mission.
The Gaofen-3 and Gaofen-3 02 satellites will be networked together to form a land-sea radar satellite constellation capable of capturing dependable, steady synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. Every day, a vast number of SAR images are produced by Earth Observation (EO) satellites. Because of its all-weather capabilities, great spatial resolution, and recent advances in image processing, SAR images have gotten a lot of attention.
These photos will have a 1-meter resolution and a one-day revisit time, enhancing China’s land-sea radar satellite monitoring capabilities.
It will aid in the prevention and mitigation of marine disasters, dynamic marine environment monitoring, marine research, environmental protection, water conservation, agriculture, and meteorology.
