After discovering four asymptomatic Covid cases, the Chinese city of Wuhan imposed a million-person lockdown. According to CNN, Wuhan’s Jiangxia district authorities have announced that its key urban areas will be subject to three days of temporary control measures.
According to the authorities, all entertainment venues, including bars, theatres, and internet cafes, as well as minor clinics and agricultural product marketplaces, were closed; restaurant meals and major meetings, ranging from concerts to conferences, were halted. All places of worship were closed, religious activities were prohibited, and tutoring institutes and tourism attractions ceased functioning.
Residents were instructed not to leave the district unless absolutely necessary. All public transportation was shut down. According to the official statement, these steps were done to reduce the danger of cross-infection and achieve dynamic zero-covid in the shortest period possible.
The extensive limitations came immediately after Jiangxia district authorities revealed the diagnosis of four asymptomatic illnesses late Tuesday. Two were discovered on routine testing runs, while the other two were discovered among their close acquaintances.
Meanwhile, in what has become known as the zero-Covid approach, authorities across China have adopted stringent measures such as snap lockdown, mass testing, and strict quarantine to contain isolated outbreaks.
